For me it was the implication that it's rare to find a Roman Catholic or Anglican who *believes* any of that guff: Many Catholic and Anglican churches are packed on Sunday mornings with young parents trying to get their kids into the best schools, and it shows – the air is thick with hypocrisy. In contrast the Evangelicals... believe... [A] religious community that does not believe in its own message will wither and die
Well yes, that suggestion did rather stand out: but it's simply prepostrous.
I think the prospect an Evangelical revival scares me just because it comes with so much baggage. Fervent belief can be excellent, but when it puts good, well-meaning people head-to-head, the outcome is often bad.
